Anthony Gale has been named Bostik South Manager of the Month after climbing three places to third in December.
After a narrow defeat at South Park to begin the month, the Stags recorded six consecutive victories while never conceding more than once to conclude 2017.
Back-to-back outings at the Elmbridge Sports Hub saw a 3-0 victory against Sittingbourne and a 3–1 win over Shoreham, before a tough trip to Guernsey saw another three goals scored in an important win.
In a final journey before Christmas, Gale’s men headed down to Faversham Town and picked up a 1–0 victory in tough conditions, thanks to Alex Kelly’s second-half strike.
The local derby and a return to the Sports Hub followed on Boxing Day, with Lartey Sarpong’s effort and Youssef Bamba’s late penalty sealing the three points in an entertaining affair with Molesey.
Gale welcomed VCD Athletic for the final match of the year, and in typical December fashion saw his side put three goals past the visitors. Youssef Bamba grabbed the first, before Josh Kelly came off the bench to pounce twice in a 3–1 victory.
He said: “I was delighted to find out I’ve won Manager of the Month, it’s a nice boost for the staff, players, fans and the board ahead of our tough January fixture program. A big thank you to my squad for their magnificent efforts in December.”
Congratulations to Anthony on a record-breaking month from all at the club.
