Walton Casuals will replay their Velocity Trophy Second Round defeat to Horsham after the visitors fielded an ineligible player.
The Hornets won 3-1 in the cup fixture on Tuesday 28 October, despite Josh Kelly opening the scoring early in the second half, and looked to be travelling to Dulwich Hamlet in the next round.
But the Bostik League have ruled that the game will have to be replayed due to the involvement of George Landais, who was on a short-term loan from Lewes.
A statement on the Horsham website explained: “Despite the fact that Lewes had not entered the Velocity Trophy this season, and they had verbally agreed that they were content for him to play in the competition, we did not submit written confirmation to the League’s registration department to this effect.”
Appearances and goals from the original game will no longer be counted in the season’s statistics and will be replaced following the replay.
A new date for the tie, which will take place at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub, is still to be confirmed.
