Alfie Taylor is one of the younger players to feature throughout the 2017–18 season, but his name has become a regular on the teamsheet this year.

The son of former Millwall, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool midfielder Scott Taylor, he joined in July 2017 having last featured in the youth ranks of Bostik Premier Division club Staines Town.

A key figure for the Swans’ youth team during the 2015–16 campaign, Taylor contributed six goals as his team won the Ryman Youth League West Division – suffering just one defeat in 16 games. He then sealed the double by scoring his side’s opening goal of a 4–3 victory in the Lucas Fettes Youth Cup final.

Making several appearances from the bench in his first season with the Stags, Taylor was rewarded with a start in a 3–2 defeat to VCD Athletic in September 2017. Typically a wide midfielder, he has also shown his versatility in dropping back as a full-back when needed, starting in the back four of a cup defeat to seventh tier Dorking Wanderers and a 7-1 win at Chessington & Hook United.

He was ruled out for two months through injury in January 2018.
