Jack Sammoutis marked his return to the Stags in February 2018 by becoming the 16th player to score 25 competitive goals for the club.
The Cypriot enjoyed a two-year spell with the club between 2015 and 2017, and after half a year away at league rivals Greenwich Borough decided to be reunited with manager Anthony Gale.
A product of the Millwall youth academy, Sammoutis represented the Under-18s and Under-21s before his release in March 2013. During that time he also represented the Cypriot Under-19s in European Championship qualification, making five appearances for the youth national team.
Joining Ryman Premier side Metropolitan Police for the new season, the midfielder featured six times before a switch to league rivals Margate a month later. Spending the season at Hartsdown Park, he struck once in 36 league appearances and scored twice in a 9–4 FA Trophy victory over Wroxham.
Sammoutis turned professional for the 2014-15 campaign with a move to Cypriot First Division club AC Omonia, and marked his debut with an assist to the last minute winner. A return to England was followed by a move to Walton Casuals, and he netted for the first time on his fifth appearance for the side, before scoring another three in just five games.
Scoring his first brace in a defeat to Tooting & Mitcham United in November 2015, Sammoutis went on to record eight goals in 33 games in his first season with the club. His form attracted the attention of several National League and Football League clubs, and in March 2016, he had a trial at League Two club Barnet.
Opting for a return to the Stags, Sammoutis finished as the club’s third top scorer with 16 goals in 48 games. He made his 50th appearance for the club in a 1-0 win against Greenwich Borough in October 2016, and a period of fine goalscoring form saw him strike five times in three games in late November. He also added another five goals in four games in January 2017.
Having been one of the team’s key figures over the past two years, Sammoutis was snapped up by big-spending league rivals Greenwich Borough in May 2017. Seven goals in 28 appearances led to another impressive return from the middle of the park, before re-joining the Casuals at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub in February 2018.
Marking his return in a 2-1 victory over South Park, the same scoreline and opponent from his first debut, he scored in the following back-to-back games and celebrated his 25th goal for the club in the process.
