Joe Hicks signs for Walton Casuals

Walton Casuals are delighted to announce the signing of defender Joe Hicks from Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The 26-year-old joins from the Beavers after regularly featuring in their National League South campaign last year.

He becomes the Stags’ first new arrival of the summer, following the confirmation of Darryl Coleman’s return as captain.

The former Kingstonian centre-back has made over 200 appearances in the Isthmian League or above, and captained the Corinthian-Casuals in their 2015 trip to Brazil.

He said: “I’m delighted to join the club. I live in the area so being at a local side means something to me. The sound of the new stadium is very exciting, and the direction the club is going in raised my interest.

“I’m hoping to be able to bring some form of experience, having played at this standard for four years before going a little higher. I try to organise as best as possible on the pitch.

“I’d love to try and get us promoted. Winning the league would be brilliant, of course, but being up there would be great.¬†Personally, I’m hoping to stay fit, play as much as possible, and help out some of the youngsters coming through. I know how difficult it can be, and getting help when I was starting was so valuable. I hope I can pass that on.”

Manager Anthony Gale has spoken about his new signing, and the developments of the club, in an interview which will be available tomorrow.

Everyone at Walton Casuals wish Joe the best of luck as he joins us at the start of a new era.
